Welcome to Gambia Women's Finance Association - GAWFA Finance Company Limited
It is with a great deal of pleasure and honor to serve as Chief Executive Officer for Gambian Women 's Finance Association (GAWFA). I would like to take the time to thank the entire staff, board members, Women World Banking (WWB), clients, stakeholders and the community for the warm welcome bestowed on to me, I truly feel at home. The staff’s commitment for GAWFA’s success, both the NGO and the new Financial Company is evident; the reception from the clients and Stakeholders I met with caught my attention and motivated me more with much enthusiasm. I have started and took off running with the team on the path for success to promote the economic empowerment of Gambian Women Through Microfinance.
I would like to thank the GOTG, IFAD, SDF, Rural Finance, AECID,Women's Bureau, and all other partners, sponsors and individuals at national and international level that have helped directly and indirectly in many ways. I would also like to thanks our existing members for being loyal clients to GAWFA. It is indisputable that change is not an easy task and that it is a process;We therefore encourage strategic investors both national and international level to review the prospectus, make a sound decision, complete the application and invest in GAWFA Finance Company Ltd Shares. GAWFA is the first and the largest microfinance institution in The Gambia established since 1987 and an affiliate of Women’s World Banking network (WWB) headquartered in New York. GAWFA’s activities are intended to promote social and economic changes in The Gambia.
The vision and mission for GAWFA is the transformation of the financial and social system of The Gambia, which assures an equitable distribution of productive resources between men and women. It aims to build and maintain viable and sustainable Women’s organization serving as a financial intermediary to enhance the entrepreneurship development of low income women, promote capacity building, eradicate poverty and increase their participation in the Socio economic development of The Gambia. GAWFA’s efforts in women empowerment is one of the most visible efforts for economic development in the Gambia. I therefore also encourage new and potential clients to consider GAWFA for their financial needs and contribute in the advancement of Gambian women.

What we do
Empower low income women in The Gambia through the provision of non financial services.
Offer business, agricultural and consumer loans to low income women individuals and groups.
Voluntary savings to both men and women.
Offer micro-banking services to low income individuals and families in the urban and rural areas, serving their business, consumption and life cycle needs.
Vision:
To build a sustainable financial institution that meets the aspiration of women in the vanguard of an evolving financial system, and regain market leadership by 2020 with a share of at least 50% of the market represented by low income Gambian women.
Mission:
To offer innovative financial solutions that contributes to lasting economic and social benefits for low income Gambian women and their families; and create value for our shareholders and stakeholders.
Our Customers
The customers of GAWFA NGO are predominantly low income women individuals and groups residing in the urban and rural areas of The Gambia and either have a business or plan to start a business. Customers also include women’s groups engaged in group economic activities or community investment projects. GAWFA also targets mixed gender groups that are engaged in economic activities or community investment activities, on condition that women represent more than 90% of the group membership.
